I couldn't resist this YSL ad from the 1984 Harper's Bazaar issue mentioned in the previous post. The primary colors and shapes just make me smile.

The silhouettes Stefano Pilati used for YSL Spring 2008 (the runway images) are eerily similar to the shapes of the 1984 Bazaar editorial "Easy For Evening."

Iconic Black & White Ads

Some believe minimalism was born in the 90s. Eh, maybe. Or maybe marketing departments cross the globe just decided less was more, because black and white was used extensively in advertisements throughout the decade. Almost every other page was colorless, and I would just flip past most. Except for the ads above. Perfect examples of black and white as simple and stunning.
