Everyone's Doing It

Notice magazines looking back to their archives to tell their present day stories? I have! The trend is appearing worldwide and I can't get enough.

Elle celebrating their 25th birthday with a blast from the past featured on the back cover of the September 2010 issue.

Interview closes their issues with past interviews. Too cool.

Guy Boudin, 1961
Terry Richardson, 2010
Carine Roitfeld celebrated 90yrs of Paris Vogue with modern day versions of the magazine's most famous editorials.

The Back Story feature in W looks at the influences used for the current issue's creative teams. Inez Vanlamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin used images from W's extensive library of back issues for their Major Tom shoot in January's issue.

Even Lucky Mag used a 1968 image from Mademoiselle to highlight their love for denim in 2011.

This is the kinda stuff that gets me hot! If you see more of this trend elsewhere, let me know!

  1. I have noticed this trend too....I am still quite obsessed with vogue paris 90 anniversary issue...it is like the bible of some of the greatest fashion photography from the last couple of decades mixed in with modern day fashion....I love it when magazines do this.
p.s I am quite taken with that elle cover and the bathing suits...super stylish!
